YOGA AND MEDITATION FOR HEALTHCARE WORKERS
Recorded by Bright Blue Yoga
These videos have been designed and recorded for The Welldoctor Project with the specific needs of healthcare workers in mind. Georgie Bassford (Bright Blue Yoga) has a wealth of experience and has been teaching Yoga for many years. She has worked with us to design these sessions which can be accessed online whenever you need them.
Please read the guidance and disclaimer below before practicing.
GENERAL PRINCIPLES OF PRACTICE:
1) Listen to your own body. You are the pilot and know better than anyone how you feel.
2) Practice with awareness. Yoga asana (postures) are all about awareness. Otherwise it’s just movement, which is good but not half as good as movement with awareness!
3) There’s not so much a wrong and a right in your practice, just maybe practicing with awareness and practicing without. You will be more likely to enjoy your practice and stay safe if you notice your body, mind and breath as you move, and as you are still.
4) Enjoy your practice. If you don’t enjoy it you won’t do it. So what can you do to find more enjoyment from your practice? Maybe a change of attitude, maybe creating a space in the house for practice, lighting a candle, playing soft music, smiling as you start your practice, wearing clothes that make you feel good as you practice. We are all different. What helps you enjoy yoga?
5) Be as kind to yourself as you practice as you would to a small child
6) Little and often is a good thing
DISCLAIMER
We want you to enjoy your yoga and these videos are generally gentle and accessible and care has been taken to provide good guidance. However, it’s important that you take responsibility for your own practice by acknowledging and respecting your own limitations. Golden rule: If it doesn’t feel right, don’t do it. If you have any concerns about your health, you should seek advice from your doctor before beginning any of these sessions. As with any physical activity, the risk of injury is always present and cannot be entirely eliminated (and should be contrasted against the serious risk to health of lack of movement!). Bright Blue Yoga assumes no responsibility or liability for injuries suffered while practicing and you acknowledge and agree that all practices are carried out at your own election and at your own risk. You hereby expressly waive and release any claim that you may have at any time for injury of any kind against Bright Blue Yoga or The Welldoctor Project.
